Our Story
PILAG Foundation was incorporated in 2020 under Section 8 of the Companies Act, born out of the unprecedented hardship unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic. When lives, livelihoods, and entire communities were shaken, a group of like-minded professionals—our founders—realised that meaningful recovery had to start from the ground up. They envisioned an organisation that would put citizens at the centre of decision-making, bridge the gap between local realities and national policies, and channel community voices into the corridors of power.
Why We Exist
- Community-first governance: Too often, policies are designed far from the people they affect. We ensure grassroots insights flow upward to shape responsive governance.
- Inclusive development: From children to elders, every demographic felt the pandemic’s impact. We work so no one is left behind as India builds forward.
- Evidence-based action: Emotions sparked our inception, but rigorous research, analytics, and on-ground pilots drive our solutions.
Our Mission
To amplify local voices, generate actionable evidence, and catalyse collaborative action among communities, government, industry, and investors—so that every policy and project meaningfully improves lives.
Our Vision
A future where every Indian community—urban or rural—actively co-creates policies, benefits equitably from development, and stands resilient in the face of social, economic, or environmental shocks.
What We Do
1. Research & Analytics
We gather ground-level data—through surveys, focus groups, and open-source intelligence—and convert it into rigorous analyses that reveal policy blind spots. Our studies help local and national authorities see where services lag, where funds are mis-allocated, and what interventions promise the highest social return.
2. Advocacy & Policy Design
Insights are only valuable when they reach decision-makers in a form they can act on. We translate evidence into concise briefs, stakeholder round-tables, and draft policy language, ensuring community priorities inform municipal bylaws, state regulations, and corporate sustainability strategies.
3. Pilot & Demonstration Projects
To prove that good ideas work in the real world, we incubate small-scale initiatives—from neighbourhood nutrition drives to solar micro-grids—that can be replicated by government or industry partners. Each pilot serves as a living lab, generating lessons that feed back into policy and scale-up plans.
4. Capacity Building & Community Leadership
True change lasts only when local actors own it. We train citizen leaders, self-help groups, ward committees, and junior officials in participatory planning, budgeting, and monitoring. By strengthening these on-the-ground networks, we ensure that progress continues long after a project ends.
Our Impact Ambition
Whether feeding a neighborhood today or shaping national climate policy tomorrow, we measure success by one metric: tangible improvement in people’s lives. Our goal is to scale proven solutions and ensure local communities in India become active participants—and recognised leaders—in global conversations on sustainable development and just transition.
